Chapter 24 Rena's rude awakening

Day 31

Well, I thought I should be dead no thoughts came to mind in why I was not, apart from the fact that I was no longer Human and part of me thought it could have something to do with the System, again though I added it to the slowly growing list of things to do at the back of my mind. “If you are the giver of life to so many, look within me because you have no power over me. I am the progenitor of my species you had no part in creating me, you gods and goddesses sit here in these realms wherever I am right now, while it is people like me who do the real fighting.” I remembered then Ray mentioned a god named Umber, and my voice rose. “Umber, if you can hear me, I would like to speak with you.”

Dark smokey shadows grew long across the room until a male figure began to coalesce from them. Umber was entirely black in every essence of the term; his armor stood out the most, though, as it gave his form a smoky appearance.

“Well summoned by a stranger, that’s new,” Umber said. “Ray’s told me about you, Tom, and it seems I’m interrupting something? Selena, Rena.” He nodded to the two women and smiled at Rena.

“I want Ray to be present for this, too, if it is possible?” He nodded, and another smoky figure rose from the ground as Ray appeared.

“Umber, where am I?” Ray asked, seeming a little tired.

“Calm down and look around you,” Umber said calmly with a smile; Ray did so his eyes eventually locked onto me.

“So this is where you are. You’ve been standing there for like two minutes; I’ve just told people to carry you, and you are heavy.” I didn't like the sounds of that Tasha must be half terrified.

“Sorry, I got a little sidetracked.” I lowered Rena to the ground as her feet touched the floor. I squeezed a little. “Do not do that again, understand me?” She nodded, and I let go. “Rena thinks she's too good to help us save our planet and possibly the universe. Depending, of course, if we die today or not.” I looked into Rena’s eyes as her ghostly image gained color, almost looking Human in the process. “See, I have a particular reason to live, and I need your help. If you don’t help me, my brother will most likely die.” Rena’s eyes were wide. I don’t think she’d ever been strangled by a mere mortal before; I spoke softer and quietly this time. “So far, both Selena and Pronatus have apparently seen inside my soul or something, so I figure you can do the same do that to me if you haven’t already and see why I need your help and why I’m fighting you're, no sorry. Our war. Humanity deserves a chance in this new world we have been thrown into,” Rena’s eyes turned glassy for a second before opening again.
